SoCalRW presents

The San Diego EFA Chapter and the Southern California Romance Writers are teaming up once again for an engaging event designed to connect writers and editors within the romance community. The evening will feature an editorial panel, followed by a Q&A session and dedicated time for editors and writers to socialize and network.

The panel will focus on common issues editors frequently encounter when working on manuscripts, as well as best practices for working with a newly edited manuscript. Additional questions on related topics will also be welcomed.

The presentation will be led by Cody Raschella and Zala Jambrovic Hatic, with additional presenters possibly joining the panel.

The Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA) is the largest and oldest professional organization of editorial freelancers in the US. The EFA is made up of a vibrant community of freelance editorial professionals—esteemed for their expertise, inclusive in their ethos, and thriving in their businesses—helping indie authors and publishers launch ideas into the world.

Presenter Bios:

Zala Jambrovic Hatic, the freelance editor behind Goldenhorn Editing, has edited over a hundred titles across various genres. Passionate about storytelling and skilled at spotting rogue commas and plot holes, Zala especially loves stories that bend reality, tug at heartstrings, or both. When she’s not wrangling sentences into shape, she’s likely hiking a dusty trail, baking something sweet, or getting overly competitive during board game night.

Cody Raschella is a professional copyeditor who has worked with indie authors, hybrid publishers, and small presses across a range of fiction and nonfiction titles. His background in journalism instilled in him a deep respect for precision, perspective, and clarity—principles that continue to shape his work today. Away from his desk, he can be found running his golden retriever at the park, melting into a new book, making a mess in the kitchen, or fighting to pay attention to the road while absorbed in an audiobook during his many commutes to Los Angeles to visit friends and family.

Meetings will be held in the morning in Room E5 at the Marina Village Conference Center.
